Product Review: Sun Basket

Sun Basket MealA few weeks ago the oh-so nice folks at Sun Basket asked if I would like to try a few of their meals and then tell you all what I thought. I took at look at their menu and what they do: organic and non-GMO ingredients for delicious recipes, delivered weekly, with gluten-free, Paleo, and vegetarian options—and, I’ve gotta say, that was a pretty easy YES!

Their menu changes every week, so there’s aways something new and fresh to choose from, and generally speaking, all the meals look to be very healthy. Mine certainly were. I tried the Burmese Chicken Aloo with Japanese Sweet Potato, Tacos with Lime Roasted Cauliflower and Black Beans, and the Shrimp and Pineapple Stir Fry with Bhutan Red Rice. All were excellent, with the tacos being my favorite—I’m kind of a sucker for creative uses of cauliflower right now.

All three meals turned out just as beautiful as the pictures without much effort, and the recipes were very clear (recipe cards for each dinner came with my order), well-organized (ingredients were neatly packed into brown paper bags, one per meal), and well-timed—e.g.for the Shrimp and Pineapple Stir Fry with Bhutan Red Rice dish, I was able to chop and cook the shrimp and veggies  in pretty much exactly the same amount of time it took to cook the rice. Super smooth and fuss free.

Oh, and the meals offered very generous portions—plenty for two good eaters, and well worth the $11.49 per meal. And, right now you can get $30 off your first order, so it’s pretty risk-free to try it out and see if it works for you.

As much as I love cooking all my own meals, there are times where it’s just not possible, but I don’t necessarily want to go out to dinner. Sun Basket is a great option for those busy nights. Everything is ready to go, and it’s so easy to go through the prep steps to have a meal on your table in minutes with approximately zero brain power required! The only issue I ran into was finding enough recipes that were both vegetarian and gluten-free, but I imagine their menus will increase in variety as they go along.

All in all, super easy dinners that were seriously delicious!
