Pineapple-Grapefruit Juice

This week’s a doozie for me, so I’m just posting this simple juice recipe to tide you all over until next week when I should have something a little heartier for you. I love this fruit combo—the pineapple is nice and sweet, but the grapefruit is more on the tart side, so it’s a really nice balance. It would make an awfully nice refreshment sitting on a Seattle patio this week…the weather is looking UP, friends! Hope you’re enjoying your day! Green Chai Juice

Cinnamon? On a green juice?? Yep! This post is inspired by a juice I used to get at a downtown Seattle shop called The Juicy Café, and that combo sounded just as weird to me as it might be sounding to you right now. But, one sip and I was hooked. This recipe also calls for a sprinkle of Himalayan sea salt, and there’s just something about the flavor created from that, the celery—which plays a big part—and cinnamon that just works. And it’s a fun tweak that keeps the basic green juice from getting boring. Hope you love it as much as I do! M Green Chai Juice Ready in: 5 min Yeilds: One 10 to 12 ounce juice Ingredients: 1/2 cucumber 4 celery stalks, cut in half 1/2 apple 1/2 lemon w/peel sliced off Large handful of spinach (or other greens) 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon Pinch of Himalayan sea salt Directions: Juice all produce together, then sprinkle with cinnamon and sea salt. Pineapple-Ginger Elixir

I used to order something similar to this from a juice bar in Seattle all the time—often enough that I was able to guestimate on the ingredients so I could make it at home, too. This juice is really delicious, but is especially great when you feel like you’re coming down with a cold or flu. I wouldn’t go so far as to say it will cure you, but it’ll definitely take the edge off. I always feel better after I have a glassful. Be warned, this one is a little on the sweet side. For that reason, I use a whole lemon to give it a good balance of tartness, as well as a big piece of ginger. (I like to feel the burn when I’m a little under the weather.) If you can handle the ginger, do it—it’s great for you. But if not, do about half the amount. It’s still good for you, regardless of the dose size. Enjoy! Orangie-Beet Juice

I’ve never been a big beet person, and I’m still not—EXCEPT in juices. Makes no sense, but I’ve always been weird like that. I’m also the girl who likes all things chocolate except chocolate ice cream. Why? No idea. This juice is among my favorites. The orange and carrot juice totally mellows out the, well, beetieness of the beets, and adds just the right amount of sweetness. And the color is awesome. 🙂 Enjoy! Carrot-Ginger Zinger

I end up sipping on this juice at least a few times a week as part of an afternoon snack—it’s one of my favorites. The ginger adds a little zing to the sweetness of the carrots, and the lemon tarts it up just a hint. This is a really good one for satisfying a sugar craving—it’ll knock that bothersomeness right outta there. Okay, juice it up. M Carrot-Ginger Zinger Single Serving, Juice | Vegan, Gluten-Free Ready in: 5 min Ingredients: 6-7 carrots 1/2 lemon, peel sliced off 1/2-inch piece of ginger 1/2 apple Directions: Send it all through a juicer, and you’re good to go! TIP: Sandwich the piece of ginger between the other bigger pieces of produce when you load everything in the juicer shoot so it doesn’t end up bouncing around in there by itself.
