5 Ways to Celebrate National Coffee Day

You KNOW I couldn’t let this day go by without paying tribute to one of my favorite foods (yes, I consider it a food—a food group, actually) on the planet: I’m talking about coffee. And turns out I don’t need a reason to celebrate…this little round-up includes coffee-related recipes that I’ve created this year with no holiday in mind. Coffee in itself is celebration-worthy, I say. So, pick your poison below, and I hope there’s lots of buzz surrounding your day! Marshmallow Monday: Sparklemallows

Ever think, I like marshmallows, but I wish they were a little more sparkly? Well, this is your lucky day. (It’s so weird how we are totally on the same wavelength!) I used gold pearl decorating dust I found at Sur La Table to give these marshmallows a glow-y look. It’s a really easy way to dress up these simple treats for a fancy occasion—these little sweets look ready to party, do they not? Enjoy! M Sparklemallows Dessert | Gluten-Free Prep time: 35 min | Ready in: 6 hours, 35 min Ingredients: Cooking spray 3 packages unflavored gelatin (vegetarian substitutions) 2 cups granulated sugar 1 cup powdered sugar Gold pearl decorating dust Cooking tools: A candy thermometer Tin foil 9×13-inch cake or jelly roll pan Directions: Line the inside of the pan with tin foil, then coat well with cooking spray. In a large mixing bowl, combine a 1/2 of a cup of cold water with the packets of gelatin and allow to sit until gelatin forms, about 15 minutes. In a medium saucepan on medium …

Marshmallow Monday: Starbucks-Inspired Coffemallows

A couple Marshmallow Mondays ago, I did a post about Coffeemallows—which are delicious—but, I didn’t stop there. I created some souped-up Coffeemallows for HelloGiggles inspired by the core Starbucks espresso drinks that were on the menu when I was a barista. It was a looooong time ago, you guys. Those were much simpler times. And much simpler menus. Below are some photos of the finished treats, and if you’d like to whip some up yourself, head over to HelloGiggles for the recipes. FYI, my favorites are the Caramel Macchiato Coffeemallows. Enjoy! M Americano, Latte, and Cappuccino White Chocolate Mocha, Mocha Valencia, Caramel Macchiato, and Mocha I used mini cheesecake tins to make these, but you can also just make them in a cake pan as usual, and do all these up in squares.

Marshmallow Monday: S’more Art Imitating Life

Since starting this blog in March, one of my favorite byproducts has been all the different people I’ve connected with in the process. Food has always been something that has brought people together, but social media and the internet has made that exponentially so. I love that I have “friends” and followers from places like Sweden, Egypt, and Indonesia, and that on my Instagram feed, I get breakfast ideas from bloggers in Australia who are already starting the next day as I’m turning in for the night. Those acai bowls get me every time. And I’ve been extra delighted by the people I’ve discovered that are indirectly related to food—I have a really fun collaboration coming up in September with a company whose products immediately made me want to have a party the second I saw them. I don’t want to give too much away, but my goal with this project will be to inspire you to gather your favorite people together and find something to celebrate. So be on the lookout for that! Probably the most …

Salted Lime Marshmallows

I couldn’t resist doing a short post in celebration of National Tequila Day. As you may or may not remember, alcohol gives me insomnia, so my margarita days are over (they’re one of the few drinks I really, really, really miss—every once in a while I long for a greyhound, too), so these salted lime marshmallows will have to do. I think that’s what you call a high-class problem. To make these, just follow the directions for my Citrus Marshmallows (the lime ones, obviously), but add a light sprinkling of sea salt flakes to the top after you pour the marshmallows into the cake pan. They are pretty delicious. And, I think it would be fun to use a round cookie cutter to make these in the shape of shots. Happy National Tequila Day and have a margarita for me (salt around the rim, please)! M Go to Citrus Marshmallow Recipe
